Sky garden

In quest'ultimo caso e period we are living in the requirement for energy efficiency has become much more than just a framework of quality, is increasingly a need for primary legislation, not only Italian, go straight to certification standards and energy efficiency in new buildings because it restored is understood, finally, that energy efficiency is the smartest way to reduce fuel consumption and therefore costs.
countries ranging from the temperate climates have a great source of renewable energy that often do not exploit the sun. For the production of electricity and hot water and solar photovoltaic systems have achieved excellent efficiency, but there is another method to use, while indirectly, to this invaluable source of energy, green roofs or sky garden.

In most irradiated areas of the planet it also historically pitched roofs have little inclination, if not flat roofs, often transformed into terraces, so it is natural to think of using this space to create a roof garden. But that was formerly a whim turned out to be a technology far more interesting and useful than expected.
Scientific studies performed on green roofs "(" Sky Garden "by Maurizio Corrado," Designing the green "Hannibal Sicurella," Roof gardens "by Philippe De Baeck) showed several properties that today might be called eco-friendly, to use a word abused too, but that fits well.
course, there are the technical requirements to design well, this action but if you read carefully (and their development is the result of extensive testing in Europe and North America) provide several benefits to the quality of the interior and exterior . Chief among these is surely the energy savings due to improved thermal insulation properties of the cover. Canadian studies have shown that 10 cm of grass 25% reduction of the demand for summer air conditioning, with the savings we can imagine.

SOM - Skidmore Owings and Merrill House

Skidmore, Owings and Merrill is not only a famous architectural firm, and magazines, or books on this subject is hard not to bump into their project, but it is a guarantee of 70 years quality projects, many of whom have become true symbols of a period.

Even if in English, much more complete, we should read the Wikipedia page

( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skidmore, _Owings_and_Merrill )

to have only an initial idea of \u200b\u200bthe vastness of projects covered by the study born in Chicago in 1936. It is not only giving your signature architectural icons like Lever House in New York or the Sears Tower in Chicago, to have a scope that spans all fields of architecture and engineering, from ' Urban

to interior through the study of eco-sustainability, but this study has always been a benchmark for all our sector.

7 World Trade Center, NY, USA, 2006

Having always proposed innovative solutions, using technologies that progress be made available, has always shown a great openness in our field is critical to ensure quality products. While working with great architects of the study has always maintained its own identity and has ensured a quality projects without seeking fame or notoriety as many architects do instead, maybe to the detriment of the project, and this is without doubt the greatest value of a study that has represented and still represents a model for many.
