In genere preferisco attendere che un progetto sia ultimato prima di analizzarne i pro e i contro ma gli articoli appeared in some newspapers and some websites, and especially a service that the TG1 has sent the other night prompted me to emphasize my criticism of the bucolic Poundbury, and the attitude of a prince who wants to impose his own style.
First, a bit 'dutiful references:

Article on Mall Fabrizio Bottini.
All the noise comes from articles in The Guardian that express a reality a fact that has proved to be different than expectations. Poundbury was born from an idea to create a pleasant and quiet, Old British style that appeals to both nostalgic for an era when automobiles, mobile phones and internet and there were not haunted, but the problems of architectural quality ( always competing with the economy having to build houses for everyone and not just for the rich) of land use decisions that favor the pedestrian movement instead of the vehicle and Social Security show that even the best intentions, that Charles had certainly must deal with the problems of contemporary society and seek the solution in the "return to the past" (as it already did Ebenezer Howard the beginning of the twentieth century with the Garden City even then with little comforting results) does not make much sense and is equivalent to neglect the real problems rather than confront them and try to solve them. This is not to say that some proposed solutions to be successful today, indeed, proved unsuccessful but often have the quality to be attempts to address the social mechanisms and in a different city from what was done in the past, partly because the company changes rapidly and it is right to try to understand the social needs promptly. But
Poundbury is also an interesting intervention, if only for the discussion that has attracted the choices of urban planning and architecture, and the diversity in our profession examples of languages \u200b\u200band open-mindedness can only benefit I believe is the greatest quality that can be an architect.
What has created the controversy created by the Guardian newspaper and spreading to many other media, is the way in which Prince Charles seems to pose to the contemporary urban and architectural choices. His opposition to the project of Jean Nuovel close to St Paul's Cathedral or the redevelopment of Chelsea Barracks proposal by Richard Rogers are some of the interventions in which the prince sought, in some cases succeeding, to stop for contemporary projects " propose "other more traditional projects, preferably made by a group of architects near Charles (The Guardian speaks of a "lobby"). Apart from the validity or otherwise of the project itself, the behavior of the heir to the throne, it immediately appeared to many to be quite arrogant interference in the choices of urban planning and architecture of the capital. In addition the international criticism on the draft symbol "Carlo Style" Pounbury fact, the uproar that has pushed the controversy even foreign newspapers interested in the controversy.
whole story I think you can deal with a smile (from news summer light) but basically teaches that we should be wary of those who seek to impose their will without a democratic and rational discussion.
